Leadership By All; Development for All

This is the place where we coach and develop our colleagues and leaders to be their professional best for their patients, customers and service users across their system.

Every colleague is a valued and respected member of our NCA family and each of us will be supported to be our best.


Leadership by All (LBA) – This is the place where we CARE, COLLABORATE, INSPIRE and DELIVER EXCELLENCE together (NCA Leadership by All Competency Framework).

We recognise that leaders deliver excellence through and with their teams and people and by collaborating across the wider system.

Our culture and people are intentionally inclusive, passionate about quality and performance and individually and collectively committed to learning and sharing our learning to improve outcomes and services.

Opportunities to Develop Yourself

We believe every colleague can make a difference, and our ‘Leadership by All’ development opportunities encourage and support you against clear standards, in line with the NCA’s ethos of leadership.

The programmes available as part of Leadership by All are organised under four main areas:

Selecting and Booking on a Programme

Our brochure provides an overview of each programme, who the programme is designed for, dates and details on how to book on, or apply. The symbols below also indicate whether the programme is delivered face to face, or virtual via Microsoft Teams:


Development for All (DFA) – This is the place where we ensure each and every one of our colleagues has access to development to support them in fulfilling their hopes and ambitions and reaching their potential.

We support, equip and develop our colleagues so each of us knows and feels we make a difference.  Every colleague is encouraged to access our Virtual Campus and every colleague will have a personal development plan which is refreshed yearly through their annual appraisal conversation.

From April 2022, the new Virtual Campus will provide an interactive, digital platform for every colleague across the NCA to access development for themselves and to help shape High Performing Teams, as part of ‘Leadership by All; Development for All’.

Running alongside this, we continue to look for opportunities to expand our existing development offer available to leaders, teams and colleagues. This includes new development programmes, materials for self-directed learning, as well as looking look at new ways we can facilitate quality learning using virtual and online technology.

We hope that by offering a variety of learning outcomes across many ways to learn, we aim to meet the needs of our diverse community of colleagues.
